WHAT I DO:  The Pilgrim Soul Forge is dedicated to the creation of both traditional and fanciful metal work at a competitive price. 

 I offer custom blacksmithing, metal fabrication, repair and restoration of metal objects and duplication of historic metal items.

I also offer hand-made custom cutlery for kitchen, field and military users

I teach classes in metalworking, for those with a creative bent.

I specialize in French-Deco and Arts-and-crafts metalwork, but I would love to bring your ideas to life!

Additionally, I repair and sharpen knives and agricultural hand tools.  I also offer training seminars on sharpening and tool care at my shop AND at venues afield! 

The Pilgrim Soul Forge is also the home of the

" Weed Jack" and "Earth Claw" garden tools.

Our The Business of Blacksmiths

In the past, the village blacksmith was not merely a skilled craftsman. he (or in some cases, she) was a community resource.

The smith was the link between the average person and the technology of the day.  Smiths were generally skilled at not only making and repairing metal objets, but working in wood, leather and fabric as well.

People tended to repair objects rather than throwing them away, and the smith was a vital part of the ethic of : "make it do, or do without"

Although we have come a long way from the hardscrabble days of pre-industry, tough economic times have prompted some to "fix it" rather than replace it.

The Pilgrim Soul Forge is located at 101 West Tower Avenue, Alameda,  CA.

We're easy to find on the old Alameda Naval Air Station.

HOURS:  12:00 noon  to 6:00pm (receiving tools) or call for appointment
